New York Times best-selling author (and NOMA Book Club favorite) Sena Jeter Naslund, author of Ahab’s Wife, The Star Gazer and Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette, will be discussing her new book, The Fountain of St. James Court; or, Portrait of the Artist as an Old Woman: A Novel at NOMA on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 2-5 p.m.

The artist referred to in the book’s title is Elisabeth Vigee-Lebrun, whose portrait of Marie Antoinette hangs on NOMA’s second floor.

Join us for an afternoon of special events and programs:

  • 2-3 p.m.: Book signing in the Great Hall (books may be purchased at the Museum Shop)
  • 3-4 p.m.: Afternoon tea with the author in Ralph Brennan’s Café NOMA
  • 4-5 p.m.: Naslund will discuss her book in the Stern Auditorium

Docents will be available on the second floor from 2-3:45 p.m. to discuss Elisabeth Vigee-Lebrun’s portrait of Marie Antoinette and related paintings.

The book signing and program in the auditorium are free with museum admission.

Reservations for the afternoon tea may be purchased for $40 per person and must be booked in advance. Please make checks payable to NOMA, with “Afternoon Tea” in the memo line.
