India
The arts of India represent NOMA's newest area of collecting. The Museum houses a significant and growing collection of the
tribal and village arts of India, particularly those from the Khond tribes and arts from the Karnataka region, where the
tradition of propitiating local deities known as Bhutas result in the creation of large bronze masks and breastplates,
and the carving of large wooden statues for the local temples.
