Internships
The New Orleans Museum of Art frequently has opportunities for students to gain valuable
experiences by serving as interns in various Museum departments. The internship program is designed
to provide undergraduate and graduate students from colleges and universities with on-site training at
NOMA. Interns are expected to assume museum responsibilities and demonstrate individual initiative.
The supervisor in turn is responsible for providing thorough training, guidance and evaluation.
Interns will gain exposure by working in at least one of NOMA's divisions - administration,
curatorial, development or education. Because of their education background and interest in the
museum field, interns should be prepared to assume specialized duties and to contribute at an
important level in the Museum. In addition, interns should become acquainted with the functioning
of NOMA as a whole.
Interns are required to work a minimum of seven to ten hours per week for approximately fourteen weeks during the academic year.
Summer internships are also available.
Students interested in applying for an internship should contact Marney Robinson, Associate Curator of Education,
at 504-658-4113 or mrobinson@noma.org. Applicants will need to provide a cover letter, curriculum vitae and a
copy of a recent transcript. The deadline for summer internship applications is March 15, 2008.
